Direct flights to Fukuoka are available from over 20 Asian centers including daily flights from Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Taipei, Seoul, Pusan, Singapore and Bangkok. For those who require a domestic connecting flight from Tokyo (1hr. 50 min.; over 30 daily flights) or Kansai (1hr.; 7 daily flights) Fukuoka is convenientally accessable. The airport consists of both an international and domestic (domestic terminals 1, 2 and 3) terminals. The terminals are connected by a free shuttle bus running at approx 10 min. intervals from 6:45 to 22:30. Shuttle bus stops are located directly outside the 1F Arrivals lobby of the International Terminal and the 1F Arrivals lobby of both Domestic Terminals 2 and 3. From the Airport to KokuraThere are two main methods of transportation between Fukuoka Internationa Airport and JR Kokura Station. BusThis is the simplest, cheapest and accordingly the most time consuming method. The Nishitetsu Highway bus (Nishitetsu is the name of the bus company) departs from immediately outside the International Terminal 1F Arrivals lobby (also from immediately outside the 1F Arrivals lobby of Domestic Terminals 2 and 3). - DEPARTURES FROM KOKURA TO INTERNATIONAL TERMINAL Subway/ShinkansenThis route is considerably faster but more expensive, slightly confusing and possibly a little inconvenient for those travelling with a lot of luggage (particularly in rush hour times). The Fukuoka Subway Airport Line Fukuoka Airport Station can be accessed through the B1F level of the Domestic Terminal 2 (the Domestic Terminal can be accessed with the free shuttle bus described at the top of this page). Tickets can be purchased (250 JPY, cash only) at the ticket machines in front of the station. Take the subway two stations to Hakata Station (10 min.). The subway runs regularly from 5:45 to 24:00. Hakata Station is the main rail terminal in Fukuoka. From Hakata Station, Kokura can be reached by Shinkansen (3,100 JPY, cash only; 20 min.). The Shinkansen departs in roughly 10 min. intervals from 6:00 to 23:27. |
