The 7th General Meeting of Japan Network Information Center (JPNIC) was convened in the 9th-floor Heian-no-Ma Room of Japan Education Hall on Friday, January 21, 2000. There were three items on the agenda for the meeting: Approval of the Fiscal Year 1999 Supplementary Budget Plan; Member Dismissals; and Approval of the Proposed Fiscal Year 2000 Business Budget for INET2000.

At the beginning of the meeting, Secretary General Higashida reported that, with 157 members (representing 389 votes) present (including the Chairman's delegated attendance), a quorum had been achieved, whereupon the meeting was declared formally open. Proceeding to election of the Chairman, Jun Murai was elected to the Chair with the unanimous consent of all regular members present. Next, the nomination of Nobuo Sakata and Eisuke Hayashi as signers of the Minutes of the Meeting was approved.

The first item on the agenda, Approval of the Fiscal Year 1999 Supplementary Budget Plan, was presented and explained by Secretary General Higashida. The item was approved as proposed by unanimous consent.

With respect to Member Dismissals, the second item on the agenda, Deputy Secretary General Maruyama offered explanatory comments, and the item was approved as proposed by unanimous consent.

With respect to the third item on the agenda, Approval of the Proposed Fiscal Year 2000 Business Budget for INET2000, Trustee Nomura offered explanatory comments, whereupon the item was approved as proposed by unanimous consent.

After the General Meeting, the attendees were treated to two lectures, one entitled "Resolving Intellectual Property Right Disputes Involving Domain Names," by Toshihiro Tsubo, a member of the JP Domain Name Working Group, and one entitled "ICANN's Latest Trends," by Yumi Ohashi, the Secretariat of JPNIC.
