JPNIC Signs MoU with ICANN and JPRS for Cooperation in Japanese Translation of ICANN Documents
In 23 June 2015 (Japan Standard Time), Japan Network Information Center (JPNIC) signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Internet Corporation For Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and Japan Registry Services (JPRS) in regards to translation of ICANN's documents to Japanese.
JPNIC has been cooperating with ICANN since its inauguration to support global coordination of critical Internet resources. JPNIC provides information to the community in various forms. For example, JPNIC and Internet Association Japan (IAjapan) has held ICANN Reporting Sessions after every ICANN meeting to report what happened there, which counts up 42 times since October 2001.
Since ICANN formed Asia-Pacific (APAC) Hub in Singapore as a part of globalization of ICANN which is propelled by Fadi Chehadé, President and CEO of ICANN, JPNIC has strengthen cooperative relationship with the team of Kuek Yu-Chuang who manages APAC area and with JPRS, the registry of .JP ccTLD. Translation of documents is one of the efforts.
The MoU clarifies that the three parties will reinforce the on-going cooperation, particularly in the document translation which has been done by each party to coordinate for avoiding the duplication, commonalizing the translation, identifying ICANN materials to be translated into Japanese and the cross-reference of the translated materials.
With focusing on resource management, JPNIC continuously promotes activities which contributes smooth operation of the global Internet.
