Guide to Admission to the Japan Network Information Center

Japan Network Information Center
This guide explains the items necessary for the admission to the
Japan Network Information Center. For admission, follow the procedure
explained here.
1. Admission Application Method and Address
For admission, read the rules and regulations of the Japan Network
Information Center carefully, and submit the following documents to
the Secretariat.
(1) Application forms for admission to the Japan Network Information
Center (application forms and the entry method are attached at the
end of this guide.)
(2) Network operation rules (or, the equivalent)
(3) List of network participating organizations (unnecessary if the
main member is an individual)

2. Account for Transfer of Membership Fee and the Term
Membership fee shall be transferred to the following account within
three months from the date of admission.
(1) Financial organ for transfer
Daiichi Kangyo Bank, Nezu branch (branch number: 076),
Account number 1519093
(2) Transfer account name: JPNIC
*For initial members (who admitted until March 31, 1993) also,
the term for transfer of membership fee shall be within three
months from the date of admission.

Precautions for Entering the Forms
1.[会員略称](Member abbreviation) should be entered using ASCII
characters excluding spaces.
2.[運営組織名](Operation organization) should be entered when the
network is operated by an organization the name of which is different
from the [会員名](Member name) and if it is necessary under the name
of billing of member fee from JPNIC, etc. (When the member name is
used for business liaison to JPNIC, etc., it is not necessary to enter
this item even if the operation organization name is different from
the member name.)
3.For [会員種別](Member type), enter the one applicable of type A,
type B or support.
4.For [会員区分](Member class), enter one of classes from 1 to 11 to
which the member belongs, in accordance with the scale at admission.
5.For [管理ドメイン名](Administration domain name), enter the domain
name when the one used for network administration has already been
obtained. It need not be one of AD.JP domains. If an administration
domain name is not yet acquired, it is needed to obtain one after the
admission is approved.
6.When a person to whom a JPNIC handle was allocated by JPNIC is entered
as a responsible person, the person in charge of liaison or a JPNIC
committee member, be sure to enter the JPNIC handle. For entry to the
application forms (2/4) to (4/4), other items for the person can be
omitted by entering the JPNIC handle.
7.Enter JPNIC committee members for the number of persons defined
according to the class.
8.Application forms (2/4) to (4/4) can be submitted by electronic mail.
In that case, send application forms to the following E-mail address:

9.When the admission is approved, the same contents as above should be
registered in the JPNIC database as project information (for details,
refer to the guide to entering the project information).
10.For application of admission, submit the application forms to the
secretariat by attaching the following materials.
o. Network operation rules (or, the equivalent)
o. List of network participating organizations
(unnecessary when the main member is an individual)

Notice for Member Types of Regular Members of the Japan Network
Information Center in the Year 1993
Japan Network Information Center
For preparing the admission application forms of the Japan Network
Information Center, enter the member type of a regular member by
reading this document carefully.
1. Academic Networks
As of March 1, 1993, when an academic network, operated for nonprofit
purposes by a nonprofit organization which is not authorized by the
Japan Committee for Research Networks (hereafter JCRN), applies for
admission, the member type is "type B" in principle. However, the
organization can apply for admission as "type A" provided that the
following two conditions are satisfied.
(1)The organization should be authorized by JCRN until February 28, 1994.
(2)Enter that "JCRN authorization procedure in progress" at the lower
part of the "application from for admission to the Japan Network
Information Center (1/4)."
If an authorization from JCRN is not obtained until February 28, 1994,
the member type for the year 1994 is changed to "type B."
2. Other than Academic Networks
As of March 1, 1993, when a network, which is not acknowledged by
the board of directors of JPNIC as having a special public nature,
applies for admission, the member type is "type B" in principle.
However, the organization can apply for admission as "type A" provided
that the following two conditions are satisfied.
(1)The organization should be authorized by the board of directors of
JPNIC until February 28, 1994.
(2)Enter that "authorization procedure by the board of directors of JPNIC
in progress" at the lower part of the "application form for admission
to the Japan Network Information Center (1/4)."
If an authorization from the board of directors of JPNIC is not obtained
until February 28, 1994, the member type for the year 1994 is changed to
"type B."
